San Ysidro, CA. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers and Border Patrol agents saved eight illegal aliens, including a 16-year-old male, who were trapped inside a drainage pipe under the San Ysidro port of entry late last night, officials announced today.
At about 2 a.m., Saturday morning, CBP officials inspecting an uncovered drainage hole south of the inspection booths within a few feet from the U.S/Mexico international boundary were told by a motorist that several people had jumped into the storm drain.

CBP hazmat personnel and a robotic camera were utilized to confirm the presence of people in the drainage pipe.
At about 9:30 p.m., Border Patrol agents, who had entered three storm drains about 100 yards west of the border station, located and safely removed eight persons from of the 30 inch drainage pipe.
They were immediately given medical attention, blankets, food and water. They did not appear to be seriously injured but were dehydrated and hungry.
The eight individuals, two females, fives males, and the 16-year-old juvenile are undocumented citizens of Mexico.
One of the males was identified as a previously deported alien; he was arrested and charged with re-entry after deportation. The juvenile was turned over to the custody of the Mexican Consulate. The remaining six were expeditiously removed from the United States and returned to Mexico.
