ORLANDO, Fla. - A 46-year-old Jamaican national was convicted here yesterday for possessing a firearm and ammunition as an illegal alien, possessing marijuana with the intent to distribute it and possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney A. Brian Albritton and Susan McCormick, special agent in charge of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Office of Investigations in Tampa.

Trevorton St. Aubin Facey faces a maximum penalty of life in federal prison. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for Sept. 28, 2009.

According to evidence presented at trial, members of the Orange County Sheriff's Office executed a narcotics and firearms search warrant at Facey's Pine Hills home on Feb. 26, 2009. Facey immediately fled the residence and scrambled over a six-foot privacy fence, though deputies quickly took him into custody.

A search of Facey's bedroom revealed five pounds of marijuana being packaged for distribution, ammunition, a loaded firearm, and Facey's Jamaican passport and travel documents. Facey ultimately admitted to deputies that he was an illegal alien. He said that he had been selling marijuana out of his home for a year and using the loaded firearm to protect his drug operation.
