In the aftermath of the sermonizing of “Reverend” Jeremiah Wright caught on DVD, Apologist Talking Head after Talking Head has told you, the viewers, that Wright’s words were being taken out of context and that the hateful words we had seen and heard did not represent the Whole Man. In that vein, we take a look back at recent history. Other individuals made statements, were later quoted, and then they or their apologists claimed they had been misunderstood at the time. Their words can be our guide to whether we’re taking things “out of context.”
